She Had To Turn A Client Away For Wanting Lip Filler Five Days Before Her Wedding – Chip Chick

Last month, TikToker @ali_st_john had to turn a client requesting lip filler away because her wedding was in five days. During the consultation, several red flags came up.
So, this woman had booked an appointment for a mini lip plump, which required half a syringe of filler to be injected into the lips. She was a new patient, so @ali_st_john made sure to ask her detailed questions about any injectables she had gotten done in the past.
She had gotten her lips done before and Botox two months ago. When she mentioned that she was getting married in five days, @ali_st_john told her it was a terrible idea to be getting an injection done so soon before her wedding.
The woman tried to brush it off, saying that she had gotten her lips done multiple times, and it had always turned out fine.
But @ali_st_john has been doing injections for over a decade, so she knows what can happen. There is potential for bruised, swollen lips, something that no one wants on their wedding day of all days.
The woman also had filler migration. Her entire upper lip was white, puffy, and overfilled. She started aggressively wiping off her makeup to prove @ali_st_john wrong.
Finally, she told the client that there was no way she could improve the shape of her lips by putting more filler in them. She was not comfortable with doing the filler when she knew it would have a bad outcome. So, she had to decline treating the woman.
“Shockingly, she was actually pretty nice about it,” said @ali_st_john. “People don’t usually take that news very well, understandably.”
“I think the thing that is sad is, I know she probably immediately started getting on the phone and calling other med spas to see who could get her in for lip filler, and you know what? There probably will be somebody who will do it because that’s just the world we live in.”

In the comments section, many TikTok users praised her for setting boundaries and shared similar stories about times when their requests for cosmetic treatments were turned down.
“My girl told me I was getting filler blindness and refused to give me any more for a while. I appreciate her honesty and have been seeing her for years,” commented one user.
“I went for a facial two weeks before my wedding, and she would only do a basic facial because she didn’t want to risk anything, nevertheless filler,” stated another.
“I stopped having fillers over two years ago, mainly because of finances. However, I am so grateful I was taken care of by professionals who always said ‘no’ to the wild suggestions I wanted. So grateful,” wrote a third.
I had to turn a client away who came in requesting lip filler. During our consultation, several red flags came up that signaled we likely were not the right fit, and that no matter the outcome, she probably wouldn’t be happy. These conversations are never easy. It’s difficult when someone comes in wanting filler and you have to explain that what they actually need may be the exact opposite. I spend a lot of time educating my clients about their options and I always respect their goals. But respecting someone’s goals doesn’t mean I will automatically agree to every treatment request. If I believe a treatment will lead to a poor outcome, I can’t in good conscience say yes. Yes, I’m a business owner. Yes, I want my business to be profitable. But outcomes, ethics, and patient safety will always come first. For other injectors, I know saying no can feel intimidating. Turning down money is never easy. But I promise you, practicing with integrity will pay you back tenfold. People will see you have a track record for good results and will seek you out. Success will find you and it will come the right way. #lipfiller #filler #injector #redflag
