AI Has Everyone Revisiting The ’80s, But Here Are Makeup Trends That Have Made A Comeback – iDiva

Every second story on Instagram has people recreating their photos and reimagining themselves in the ’80s looks, thanks to AI tools. While everyone’s figuring out how they’d look in fashion and beauty looks inspired by that decade, it’s also true that a lot of makeup trends from that time have actually made their way back into our makeup looks in recent years.
From dramatic eyes to statement lips, among other things, there’s so much to take inspo from when it comes to the ’80s looks. However, it’s also true that while those trends are about nostalgia, they are also about bringing a modern spin to them. Here are some makeup trends from the ’80s that have caught everyone’s attention and continue to do so.
Here’s a quick look at makeup trends from back in the day that have made a comeback.
Dramatic eyes are a current makeup trend Pinterest
Every other look on the internet has got those dramatic eyes, and that can be done with eyeshadow or simply adding plenty of mascara. While contemporary beauty looks have a more subtle vibe, it’s also true that everyone’s been loving the statement eye makeup looks. One could be wearing the simplest of outfits and somehow, adding some blue, pink or purple will just make it work and look put together.
Statement lips are trending Pinterest
We’ve had phases of nude lipsticks, and while everyone continues to love tints, we’ve all seen the shift towards people now liking reds, berries and pinks. The statement lips back in the ’80s were a compulsion, but that didn’t stop people from pairing them with heavy eyes and cheeks too. However, what’s changed now is that one would want to opt for a more minimal, skin-like base makeup with simpler eyes to balance the overall look.
No colour is ‘too much’ colour Pinterest
Sure, soft glam and minimal makeup looks will always have an audience; however, the way everyone’s been experimenting with colours after years of neutral looks is just refreshing. It’s interesting how everyone’s trying to make makeup fun again, and so much of that has to do with just adding in more colour.
Glossy skin is an ‘80s makeup trend comeback Instagram
Sure, the ’80s weren’t the OG when it comes to glowing skin, but the glowy and radiant looks that caught everyone’s attention back then were anything but subtle. And today, as everyone’s back to being obsessed with luminous looks, it only makes sense that it’s a beauty trend that’s travelled all those years. It’s all more refined, but it’s all trickled down from those days.
Much like the recreations that aren’t copying but reimagining photos from today, the makeup trends have also simply drawn from what they used to be in the ’80s. While AI is doing its work and sending everyone back in time, beauty continues to give us enough chances to keep revisiting the ’80s.
